TEHRAN -- Regarding the important role the Qods Day plays in all-out spiritual support for the oppressed Palestinian people, members of the Expediency Council (EC) Saturday called for massive participation of the people on the Qods Day rallies, Central News Bureau reported.

Given the recent regional and international developments, the Zionist regime's atrocities and crimes in the occupied lands and its widespread state terrorism which is carried out and intensified under the overt U.S. support, the council invited all the fasting people to take part in the rally, the bureau quoted an EC member as saying.

Also, in its Saturday session the EC called for the construction of high quality buildings conforming to local cultural values and observing environmental standards.

The EC approved the general policies of the Housing System, voicing support for establishing and strengthening public associations and organizations as well as charity organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to meet the housing problem of the low-income strata.

The council called for compilation and enforcement of comprehensive plans to improve rural housing and giving priority to construction of houses in natural disaster-prone regions.

It stressed the improvement of architectural standards of houses and modernization of residential units in line with local characteristics and setting up of saving schemes to finance rural housing projects.

It also emphasized support for mass-construction of houses keeping in mind the rights of families in any housing scheme.
